Challenges 1 & 2 – Nailed!

Paul and I have just returned from a Ski trip to Italy over the Christmas break. A fantastic week in the Dolomites, staying in Madonna di Campiglio and learning to Alpine ski and Cross-Country Ski. I had two fantastic teachers, Andrea on the slopes and Carmela on the flat…five half-day lessons for each type of skiing and by day three I did a blue alpine run!! Chuffed! Photos and video footage to follow shortly, courtesy of the trusty GoPro. And a classic one of me falling on my butt on the cross-country tracks!!

Time to prepare

The expedition information arrived for Elbrus and I clearly need time in the mountains to learn how to use crampons and ice axes. I have booked myself on to a trip over the February half term to do exactly that – six days in Scotland, learning from the experts. In the meantime, I need to recover my walking fitness and get some new boots – mine won’t take crampons as I walk in trainers…I climbed Everest Base Camp in trainers!

The Slackline is on the way…a Maverick Pro…if you are going to learn, you might as well learn on the best kit around. I need all the help I can get!
